Ok - that is the 'as advertised' version of the sale. But the 'register logic' part is that the register figures the amount spent on the shelf price or the price you would get without using your Acme shopper card.

Trust me, we KNOW this is what it does, that's how my shelves are so full!

Do the store employees get it NO - do some of the people at catalina get it (sadly, no). But that is how it works!!!

Is it 100% - NO., but I am active on several message boards, and if there is a product that isn't working as part of the sale I typically know pretty early in the sale cycle. Also, I am not afraid to return an order, but if I do 10 orders, and 1 doesn't work, I'm also willing to accept that I didn't get that $5 coupon and move on.

Getting started - how about dollar doubles??

That was the basic question posted by a facebook friend this morning, and I figured that since I took the time to answer, there was no reason to keep the answer trapped on facebook.

Dollar doubles are very, very rare in our area, sometimes Giant will do it, for like 4 coupons.

Personally when I coupon shop I find my best coupon deals at Acme ( I will post the 'prep' for the sale starting this Friday in a few minutes). Good, non coupon, deals can be found at Aldi and Amelias (ok Amelias does take coupons for some brands, but I do well there with and without coupons).

The thing is to get to know your stores coupon policies and learn prices so you know what a good deal is. IE I don't pay over $.75 for a box of cereal, I don't pay for toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, mustard, pudding. I pay pennies for things like canned vegitables, pasta sauce, ketchup, bisquick, soups, salad dressing, dry soup mix, cake frosting, cookie mix.

And even some bigger grocery items you can save a significant amount. I have a preference for Tide laundry detergent ( I have not been happy with any other detergent in my HE washer), but I am certainly not paying a $15 shelf price for it, this week I got it for $4.99, and I have picked up 4 bottles (so far, I expect to get about 2-4 more, at this price)

Yes, I am know I am behind the times on this, but I finally got to the new Collegeville Wegmans store today.

I've got to say I like it. I'll admit that I don't have the awesome catalina deals like we are used to at Acme, but the shelf prices seemed very good, the variety of products available is amazing. The store is somewhat of a maze of departments that our other local stores truly can not be compared to. My girls loved the samples being given out, and also enjoyed the train running around the ceiling area of the store.

Personally, I've got to say that I LOVE that it is a 24 hour store! I am a night owl, and I really miss having my Acme be a 24 hour store.

I did not check out the Cafe or Pub - perhaps we can get some couponers together there?

I did take advantage of the spend $25 get a turkey at $.29 a pound deal. Please don't harass me for being crazy, my family LOVES turkey, and how over can you seriously get that much meat for $.29 a pound? This turkey is currently defrosting in my fridge, and I will cook it later this week, then I can pick up my free Acme turkey and put that in my freezer later in the week. If I can find room in a freezer (I have 3 this shouldn't be such a hard thing to do, but it is), I may even pick up another turkey or 2!

One thing I will say for those who have not made their way to Wegmans yet, you need to go to the customer service desk in order to get your card. Being a new store, I expected that they would be available at the check out lanes. A kind manager did scan his card so they could go ahead and complete my order with the discounted pricing though.

Grrr ACME! Give Collegeville a Break!

So, I admit I have been wondering what is going on with the former ACME Collegeville location, and I was in the Saladworks today and I found this petition:

Acme Deliberately Blocking Shop Rite/Wakefern Foods From Discussions Concerning Moving into Acme's Vacant Collegeville Space

Acme Markets announced in January, 2009, that it was closing its Collegeville Shopping Center location after operating here for over 40 years. It is our understanding that Acme which has a remaining four-year contract with the shopping center's manager, the Centro Properties Group, continues to pay rent to Centro for the vacant space, rather than allow another grocery store to move into its' former space. Unfortunately, Acme's marketing plan to limit competition is also forcing Collegeville residents to drive to the Acme stores in Limerick or Lower Providence - an unnecessary minimum eight mile round trip. *

Additionally, as the former anchor store of the Collegeville Shopping Center, the Acme vacany has very measurably adversely affected all the remaining shopping center tenants, and if the vacancy continues it could force many Collegeville businesses to close.

Jim Mandanci of Wakefern Foods, who runs an attractive and successful Shop Rite Supermarket in West Chester, PA, has approached Centro Properties Group to discuss combining the Acme and Riter-Aid spaces to build a high-end store in Collegeville that would contin a large, state-of the art grocery store, pharmacy and coffee sandwich/pizzeria area. For now, Centro is honoring the Acme lease and is not engaging in discussions with Wakefern Foods, to the detriment of Collegeville's residents and the mall business tenants.

Although legal, these actions, unfortunately, exhibit a total disregard for the best interests of our local residents and the viability of our Collegeville business community during the time we are alll suffering from this economic downturn.

If you believe as we do that Acme should instead demonstrate a positive community commitment in working in a good faith effort with Centro, Wakefern Foods and any other interested supermarkets for the best interest and outcome of our Collegeville community, and allow discussions concerning supermarkets moving into the former Acme space, please show your support by joining us in signing the attached petition or sign one that will be available at all the stores in the Collegeville Shopping Center beginning July 5, 2009. **

2nd Annual Children’s Item Consignment Sale to help raise monies for the Spring-Ford March of Dimes Campaign on Saturday, April 25, 2009. As many of you know the March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization which assists in providing resources for pregnant women and baby health.

The sale will include a wide variety of children's items as well as gently used prom gowns. 100% of all donated item profits will go to the March of Dimes. They can provide a receipt for donated items should you need it for tax purposes.

With just some basic tools you CAN do this! To be honest these aren't even my pictures. They were taken by my best friend, in her dinning room, tonight.

How much did all of this cost? About $55

How many stores to get all that? This table did involve shopping with 3 different chains stores, none more then 5 miles from where the purchaser would have gone anyway. The stores involved were Weis, CVS and ACME.

I could never use so many boxes of cereal!?! Really, well how many boxes of cereal do you buy a week? Have you ever checked the expiration dates on cereal - I have - and many times the expiration date in nearly a year from when I purchased it. So even if you family only used 2 boxes of cereal a week that is only about 8 weeks worth of cereal.

Ok, so how can I do this in 'babysteps'

Try this deal this week at ACME (through Thursday 2/5/2009)
Buy 4 Select General Mills Cereals 4 for $10 (as in ad includes Kix, Cheerios, Trix)
Use General Mills coupons from the Sunday Paper, or Print 2 Cheerios Coupons HERE

When your purchase is complete, the Catalina machine (awesome coupon printing machine located at the register) will print a coupon for a FREE gallon of milk (up to $4.50, on your next visit)

How much have you save with just this deal? Well the regular price of the Cheerios included in this deal is $3.49, you are getting is for $2.50, so that is a savings of $.99 a box (saving $3.96 for 4 boxes) plus up to $4.50 for milk, and your coupons. So you are looking at a savings of AT LEAST $9.46. Who doesn't like to have an extra $10 in their pocket?

I admit, I have become a bit focused on one store, ACME, and I forget to check the other stores for great deals too.

Well this week there is a sale, ending 2/4/2009. This sale includes Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks 4 for $4 AND get a $2.50 OYNO (on your next order) coupon. So my BFF and I gathered all of our Fruit Snacks coupons (during the Super Bowl last night) and I headed out to 2 Weis stores today.

Here is what I ended up with:

28 boxes fruit snacks

4 boxes granola bars

3 chili seasoning mixes

and a pack of mints

Out of pocket cost: $5.76

3 PA and 1 NJ ACME stores will be closing

KYW is reporting that ACME will be closing the following stores:
Ambler
West Chester
Collegeville
Newton, NJ

Unfortunately I am not incredibly surprised about the Collegeville store, it has always been a rather odd setup, teamed with the area it is in and a new Wegmans opening down the street, I don't think it stood much of a chance.

Reports did advise that employees will be given the opportunity to transition to other stores. Personally, I would LOVE to see some of their customer service (ok at least 1) transfer to Royesford.

I am not sure what the overall plan is for emptying the inventory in these stores, but it will definitely be something to watch.

Two Newspapers - Two Sets of Coupons? WHY?!??!

I've been telling everyone, if you are going to even try couponing as a way to save money in 2009, you NEED at least 2 sets of coupons this week.

Why 2 sets? Why would I buy more then one paper?

The answer - there are 5 sets of coupon inserts this week, there are a TON of coupons for everything from Green Giant Steamer Veggies to Dishwasher Detergent. If you ever want to see just what coupons are included each week (before the paper comes out) check out Taylortown Preview the values of actual coupons, and the exact coupons do vary from paper to paper and in different areas, but you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Ok, now I've got my papers, and my coupons, where do I start?

Clip the coupons! And organize them into what makes sense for you, like types of coupons together like soup, cereal, veggies, etc. And then put them in an envelope or a zip lock bag AND put them in your purse /wallet. (These clipped coupons do you no good if they are laying at home while you are at the grocery store.)

Ok, next get out your ACME ad, take a look at the back page. It reads spend $30 on the great offers and get $15 in coupons for your next order (OYNO). But here is the thing with ACME when it is a OYNO deal (not an instant savings deal) is that the register bases the $30 purchase amount on the shelf price - not the sale price (this however doesn't apply to pharmacy, health and beauty items such as Prilosec, Nyquil, Always, those items will be based on the sale price).

"Diane, YOU ARE CRAZY - I Am Confused!"

It's OK - Take a deep breath, I went to the store today with the intention of doing the simplest order I could with just the coupons from this week and one internet printed coupon.

So go to COUPONS.COM and print out one coupon for Bisquick, mine printed for $1, some are printing for $.75, but it is still a good deal either way.

Now go to ACME. This is what you are shopping for:

3 boxes Honey Nut Cheerios Regular Price $3.49, Sale Price $2, Coupon $1 on 3

1 box Bisquick Regular Price $4.29, Sale Price $2.50, Printed Coupon $1 (or $.75)

4 boxes Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks Regular Price $2.50, Sale Price $2, 2 Coupons $.50 on 2 (which will double)

2 boxes Fiber One Cereal Bars Regular Price $3.50, Sale Price $2, 2 Coupons $.50 on 1 (which will double)

The regular price total of this order : $31.76

Price you pay after sales and coupons $14.50 (or $14.75) and the catalina machine (awesome coupon machine at the register) will print out 3 $5 coupons totaling $15.00 - you are AHEAD! and walking out the door with groceries.

Ready or not, it's here - 2009!

I am going to start right off and admit that I am not going to be one of the bloggers posting that I am going to be going to setting a goal of an awe inspiring food budget for the year. I truly admire those that can, but for us it just doesn't work, my shopping not only include my family of 4, but it includes extended family, 3-4 weekend events where I feed approximately another 45 people of the weekend, and I donate to several causes.

However, I am going to do my best to:

Keep my blog updated and honest! I'm not perfect, my deals aren't always the best, and i've certainly had deals not go as I thought they would, or missed a better deal just down the street. But what I hope to offer is for others to learn from my mistakes and from what I do right.

I always want to make better choices and try and plan better with my purchases. I had some great deals in 2008, but there were a few that I overstocked on, and some that I really understocked on.

And probably the hardest for me, is to try and get my coupons under control! I have switched to the binder system, which in a lot of ways I like alot better, but I still need to do some modifications to make it work for me.

Other goals:
Purchase / obtain an upright freezer - I have passed on way to many deals because my freezer was already bursting at the seams (even though I upgraded to a larger fridge/freezer in 2008).

Better evaluate and plan my revenue gaining activites (AKA Work). My employment background is insurance, but I have been out of the 9-5 (ok 8-6) office life for about 4 years now, and I have no intention of looking back. But the insurance auditing I was doing has dried up, I am pursuing other possibilites with insurance auditing, but am keeping my options open. I have also found that well planned merchandising routes can be very beneficial, and still allow me the flexibility I need with the kids. I also recently started with a company that I work from home making customer service review and training phone calls. I LOVE not being on the road so much (and it extends the life of my 1999 car!). I just need to work on my speed at handling those calls to make my time spent more profitable.

I admit I have been pretty down on CVS, 'cause the deals have sucked. But the current Duracell Battery deal is SWEET!

Buy $20 of Duracell batteries and get $15 in ECB - that alone is great . . . .But!

This past weekends inserts, and today's Philadelphia Daily News (see pic) have $1.50 coupons off Duracell batteries . . . . But there's more!

In CVS stores you can find tearpads for $5 off 2 packs of Duracell batteries, and they are Store coupons, so you can use them with the manufacturers coupons.

And this means you are getting PAID to stock up on batteries! And we all now that this time of year we ALWAYS need lots of batteries!

Other deals to check out while you are at CVS are the Glade and Crest deals. Roll those ECBs, and more deals are coming for Thanksgiving/Black Friday!

BTW - one of the local couponers secrets is the Philadelphia Daily News. Each Thursday they have coupons. Now there aren't usually as many coupons as we see in the Sunday Philadelphia Inquirer. BUT the Daily News only costs $.75 ! And it is worth checking when there are good coupons (and you were too sick to make it to the Dollar Store on Sunday before they got cleaned out of papers). In the case of today's Philadelphia Daily News, it has a nice selection of this past weekends coupons, and it includes the $1.50 Duracell coupon, with that one coupon you are ahead!

The coupons on them work great on things like the B1G1 Loreal Makeup (my store lets me use a coupon for each item too!), Almay 40% off makeup, Kiss Nail Art, Revlon Nail Files (great for solider donations!) Plus the "hot list" from my previous post.

There has been a lot of bzzzzzz about ACME and Jewel deals coming at Couponers Wanted they are OYNO catalina deals which *should* be based on shelf price not on sale price. The ONLY way to know what is hot with the Jewel deals . . .which frequently match up with the ACME deals is to watch Couponers Wanted I will post an update when I have the ad, but Barb and Ernie have the heads up way earlier then me.

Also, if you use an ACME Cash Rewards points store. Check the bottom of your receipt, the end of the month is approaching and you don't want to just miss a point level to get a bigger reward! Also rewards will now be printing as a catalina after the 15th of the month the reward, the month following when the award was earned, no more wondering when they will come in the mail! WTG ACME!

The holidays are just around the corner, and we all know the crunch to get gifts purchased and wrapped, and possibly even mailed on time.

But getting things donated to our soliders serving overseas needs to happen even sooner.

Here in PA there is a great organization called Keystone Soliders. I do my best to donate to them year round, but I make an extra push for additional donations at this time of year. Their current wish list for donations is:

*** 12" to 15" CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS for the holidays*** Can be home made or store bought!
*Cold drink mixes – Gatorade, Crystal Lite, Kool Aid or the individual flavor straws you add to bottled water
Ground Coffee (not instant), tea, hot chocolate or spiced cider. Coffee creamer and sugar packets too!
*Power Bars, cereal bars, trail mix and healthy snacks
Ramen Noodle packs (the big cups are hard to pack and limit what we can fit in the packages)
*Slim Jims, *Beef or Turkey Jerky Granola Bars
Sunflower Seeds & Nuts
***Individual snacks like chips, crackers, cookies, cheese/cracker kits

Shipping costs have increased and they really need to be able to get the packages out every week. They ship Wednesday and Saturday and are currently sending 50 to 200 boxes every week. The troops are counting on us.

Keystone Soldiers is gearing up for our annual Stockings for Soldiers campaign for the holidays. This will be our 6th Christmas season sending holiday cheer from home to those serving our country all over the world. One of our big needs is the Christmas stockings so that we have enough to cover the 6,000 or so troops on our list that have already signed up. Please help us make sure that none of our troops goes without a holiday smile from home this year.
If you have a church group or scout troop or even a sewing club that could help us out with some 12" to 15" stockings it would be a huge blessing. They can be home-made, sewn from felt or purchased. We have had to buy some extras the last couple years and the Dollar Tree stores usually have a great selection for only $1 each. We currently have a couple hundred in stock thanks to the Lynn family and several other donors who have drooped off bags of them at our Leesport packing location. We appreciate all of you who have remembered that we have to start early to make sure the stockings get there in plenty of time. Registered users can view some of the photos of those who received stockings from us last year in the Media Gallery!

Our other BIG need for this campaign will be the money to ship the stockings. The economic situation has hit us hard the last few months. I know that times are tough and that when you are struggling to put gas in your car and food on the table that one of the items that is not on your mind is giving money away. All I can ask is if you can help us with $5.00 or a package of snacks or socks or other items from the list to put in the stockings you do so. We truly appreciate any help at all and no donation is too big or too small.

We will be posting more details on Stockings for Soldiers and some extra packing dates and times over the next few weeks. We hope to see lots of our old friends during the holday season!

I admit I had a great time away scrapbooking, even though I came home to sleep it was still the most away I have been from the family since we moved our daughters into our home, as foster children, in 2005! I am telling you this Mommy needed a break!

Other then picking up my newspapers at Dollar Tree, I have done nothing coupon related this week, even ran through ACME tonight for a quick dinner without coupons.

So what I am going to toss out here is a quick run down of what I see as some quick, current couponer 'to do' items.

First, clean out your coupon organizer. A TON of coupons expired 9/31 through 10/5. And unless you are one of those lucky people who lives in an area that accepts expired coupons, it is time to move on. There are some military programs that accept these coupons, so you may want to consider contacting them. (Coupons can be used on overseas military bases 6 months past the expiration date).

Many of the printable coupon sites reset on the first of the month. So now is the time to check them out. You may be able to print one or two more copies of a coupon that you LOVED, and you may find some new coupons too!

Baking season (Thanksgiving through Christmas) is rapidly approaching. Now is a great time to sort through your baking items, weed out items that are expired, and make a checklist of items that you need for the holidays. While sales have changed over the years, this is the season for baking, and the stores know it too, so I will be watching for baking items to replenish my pantry.

While we morn the loss of the money making Glade Gel Warmer deal that seemed to appear everywhere (Acme, Giant, Some KMart, Jewel, etc etc etc) Keep your glade gel warmer REFILL coupons handy. I got a text message from my sister today that her Giant PA store shelf shows a $2 OYNO Catalina when you buy 2, and this deal goes into November. I don't think these are a money maker (or even a freebie) YET, but that is plenty of time for a sale to come in.

Just one more thing! While chatting with my friend Lori, over the weekend she mentioned that she is very good about clipping her coupons, and putting them in her little organizer bag, but she is very BAD about actually taking them to the store. She pretty much talked herself through the issue and decided to move her coupon storage with her grocery shopping list. Now Lori is by no means a power coupon shopper, but is doing her best to be a Savvy Shopper. So take a moment and review your grocery store shopping strategy. What are you falling short on? Taking the reusable bags to the store? (I now have my kids run them out to the car as soon as they are empty) Taking your coupons? Taking your list? Whatever it is, take a moment to see what you can do to possibly cut down on / eliminate that problem. You just may save your self some $$ and some sanity at the same time!

But my oldest dd managed to take up about 6 hours of my evening with her school project, due Friday, that she had been insisting she was working on, on her own (yeah, right!)

I have been down that our Kmart hasn't been participating in the double coupon deal. Each time I have heard about the deal, I have called the local stores and been told "no". One store had told me "yes" one time but after I loaded up my cart they told me it was a mistake and that they should not be offereing doubles, but did honor my order for that order only (which I really wasn't prepared for, more wanted to test the waters, so it wasn't that big of a order).

So today I called the local stores, and was again told no. I decided to go ahead and call corporate. After a lenghty hold I was told that all stores should be honoring the deal and that they would email my store manager.

Well the manager just called me back, and she said they WILL honor the double coupons Today 10/1/08 and Tomorrow 10/2/08.

So call your store and ask for a manager, if that doesn't work, call corporate.

BTW theses are 'super' doubles a $2 coupon is worth $4! ! ! Internet printables are not accepted. Maximum of 4 like coupons, total coupons, per customer, per day 75.

Revising the way I shop a bit

Today we got the news at our house, that many have gotten across the country.

My husband is being laid off.

We are blessed in that we have advanced notice of this, his lay off date is 3/31/09.
Honestly, we have been through the layoff route before. He previously worked in the semiconducter and technology industry (in HR) , and they both when through company shut downs and layoffs. This time he is doing HR in the medical industry, and we had thought that was a bit more secure, but apparently not. The difference between this layout and previous ones: I am not working full time, we have 2 kids.

BUT
I know how to shop now, I know how to save, and I have a STOCKPILE! Oh and for the first time ever for us, we have already prepaid our home heating oil for the year.

I will definitely be rethinking some things though. Some deals I have done as nice extras, but still had an out of pocket cost. I had already told my family that all I wanted for Christmas was a freezer, this is going to become a mission for me now. Having an extra freezer would give me the ability to stockpile so much more food, and save more money. I would also really like to look into purchasing a 1/2 or 1/4 cow, having that in the freezer would make me very reassured.

And, as we are approaching tax season, I am considering getting a job processing income tax returns.

Anyone have any suggestions, been there and wish you had dones?

Thanks to Lisa's Bargain Alert I saw the heads up on Thursday that ACME is starting their own gas deal. Though this deal doesn't have me bouncing for joy because it is with Exxon and their are no reasonably priced Exxon stations in my town, but I will be on the road this weekend, so it may end up being beneficial.

The gas deal gives you a coupon for discount per gallon of gas, based on the total of your grocery bill. I was really curious to see how this would be affected by the use of coupons. So instead of doing smaller orders (which I normally do to make it easier for me to make sure that prices are ringing up right). BTW Coupons do not affect the printing of your gas coupon!

Food for Fifty Part 1

First I have to say that one of my most prized cookbooks (and I have MANY) is Food for Fifty, by Mary Molt. Which is now in it's 12th edition (must mean I am not the only one to swears by it) with a list price of $104 (Amazon.com sale price $72.07) I obtained a used copy of it years ago (not the most recent edition) I know it still wasn't cheap, but I didn't pay that much.

So why this obsession with being able to feed so many?

Well my husband and I run a group that LARPs, for those who don't know what that means. We basically have full weekend murder mystery parties, in the woods, in medieval garb, and hit each other with padded plumbing supplies. Still interested, send me a message and I am happy to share more.

Among my many duties for this group is food. This is also my first event after my obsession with 'extreme couponing' (I just recently heard this term and it is growing on me). So now the event has taken on a whole new level of preparation.

Parameters for the event

50-60 attendees

"Kitchen" is somewhat roughing it, there is no oven. However there is a fridge, freezer, microwave, we have a propane camp stove, and they promise me enough power to run my crock pots and electric griddle, as well as the coffee pots.

Food restrictions - we have attendees with allergies or religious restrictions to the eating of - poultry, beef, pork, garlic, ritz crackers and blue food dye

Food will be served Tavern style, plan is a rotating menu (as all of one food is gone, put another on the menu)

Meals that need to be provided. Two Breakfasts, Two Lunches, One Dinner, Deserts and Snacks

So if I do my math right that is 5 meals, average of 55 people, or 275 meals in 2 days, plus snacks and desert

Schools back in session and the spelling homework has arrived.

I don't know about your house, but spelling homework and studying can be a real struggle in mind. I found this site tonight and I LOVE it!

It's FREE! You register and can enter in the spelling lists, then the kids can get help learning them, playing games to learn them and being tested on them. Without you having to stand over them asking them to spell the same word 10 (or more) times!

Catalinas

This is a term you will see pretty frequently on the coupon message boards. It refers to those little magic coupon printing machine boxes that sit by the cash register and print out coupons and advertisements either as your order is being rung up, or after you pay (or sometimes both). It is referred to as it a Catalina because the company that operates them is Catalina Category Marketing.

Catalina machines can be found in over 22,000 stores!

Most of the catalina machines in my area have a ready light on them that will start to blink as they are getting ready to print more coupons. This is something to be aware of because it is very easy to walk away from the register without all of your coupons.

Catalina's website explains it's behavioral marketing. Their company offers manufacturers and retailers several options for marketing including historical based (following the transacations of your frequent shopper card) and UPC based (ever wonder why when you buy one brand of a product out pops a coupon for the competitors brand)

Some Catalina deals will be advertised in your store flyers. These will typically be the Buy $20 in XX Brand and get $7 off OYNO (on your next order) type of deals. Others may be labeled in the store. IE buy 2 dressing and receive $x off your next order.

What do you do if a Catalina should print (or you think it should) and it doesn't? First go to customer service, sometimes they can handle it for you. If that doesn't work, or you get home before you realize it. Then call Catalina there numbers: 1(888) 322-3814 or 1-888-8COUPON (1-888-826-8766) Be prepared with your receipt, any ad info that you may have and time to be on hold. Also note they can not see the transaction in their computer for at least 24 hours after it occurs.

Lastly, unless they come up with a new wording for catalinas, they are based on your PRE COUPON purchase price, if they claim otherwise require them to show you where it says so.

Amelia's Grocery Outlet

If you are you really need to check Amelia's Grocery Outlet.

I have been singing the praises of Amelia's for at least 3 years (if you google it the third entry is a post of mine from 2006). At that time I estimated I did 75% of my shopping at Amelia's. Admittedly I don't do that much there now, but I didn't have an ACME then.

Amelia's is a grocery OUTLET, their selection does vary, and somethings you will only see in the store once. (Don't remind me of the day I saw a TON of jet dry for $.69 and didn't have my coupons with me, of course it was gone the next day)

With regards to coupons, they do accept coupons, but do to manufacturer restrictions they have a list posted in the store of manufacturers that they can not accept coupons from. (Mostly it is the big name cereal companies, except Quaker) But honestly even though their shelf prices of cereals are better then you would see at the grocery store, they don't beat the grocery store sales combined with double coupons.

Also some products on Amelia's shelves are expired. Please note though that expiration dates on many foods are Sell By dates, not use by dates, just use common sense on how long things are good for.

I really only go to Superfresh for triples, and I missed the last few triples sales due to life (and having kids home for the summer)

But today I loaded up the coupons and headed on over. I did 2 orders, my plan was to get my bonus bucks deals in my first order, and then use the bonus bucks to pay for the second order. The plan didn't work out though, because the catalina system was down at my store. They are suppossed to be mailing me the $13 worth of catalinas that didn't print.

and even though the ad doesn't state it, Superfresh bonus bucks deals are based on REGULAR not sale prices (be sure to check the regular prices in your store, the price scanner can be your best friend if you are cutting it close too!)
